Fishing in Lakes
Overland Park offers six lakes throughout the city that range in size. According to Kansas state requirements, residents between the ages of 14 and 64 must have a fishing license to fish in city lakes.
While the types of fish in each lake vary, the city has posted signs at the lakes that outline creel limits and other restrictions. Some of the varieties of fish include crappie, largemouth bass, and channel catfish. The city's two largest lakes, South Lake and Kingston Lake, feature fishing piers.
Boats are allowed on the water; however, boats with motors are prohibited on community lakes within the city.
Overland Park Lakes
Overland Park is home to the following lakes:
- Amesbury Lake: A 3.5-acre lake located off 143rd Street & Westgate Street
- Kingston Lake: An 8-acre lake located off 151st Street and US-69 Highway
- Regency Lake: A 3-acre lake located just north of 151st Street and Horton
- South Lake: A 5.5-acre lake located off 87th Street and Valley View
- Summercrest Lake: A 1.5 acre lake located off W 112th Street & Riley Street
- Wilderness Lake: A 3-acre lake located at 16001 Rosewood Street
