Registration

The City of Overland Park is hosting a unique indoor triathlon experience at the Matt Ross Community Center for current MRCC and TRCC members. All participants will receive an official indoor triathlon T-shirt. Winners receive 3-month membership extension.

Eligibility

  • MRCC & TRCC members only (excludes Group Exercise Memberships)
  • 18 and older
  • $25 per participant


How it works

There will be four divisions:

  • Men's
    • 18 - 39 Years Old
    • 40+ ( Age forty and older)
  • Women's
    • 18 - 30 Years Old
    • 40+ ( Age forty and older)

Participants will perform: (see details)

  • 15 minutes swim in the lap pool
  • 15 minutes bike on a stationary bike
  • 15 minutes run on a treadmill

Five minutes between events

Heats

Four competitors per heat (28 total participants)

Heats start every 20 minutes (7 heats total)

  • 7:30 a.m.
  • 7:50 a.m.
  • 8:10 a.m.
  • 8:30 a.m.
  • 8:50 a.m.
  • 9:10 a.m.
  • 9:30 a.m.

Total time from start to finish for each heat is 55 minutes.


Awards

  • All participants will receive a t-shirt.
  • Champions will receive a three month extension on their current membership.

NOTE: There must be at least three (3) competitors in a division for it to have an award given to a champion.


Event Details

(Events must be performed in this order.)

Swim Event

  • 15 minutes
  • Held at the 25 yard lap pool
  • Each swimmer will have their own lane
  • "In water" start
  • Pool will be divided into 5 yards zones
  • Distance will be measured in yards rounded up the nearest 5 yard zone

Bike Event

  • 15 minutes
  • Four bikers at a time
  • LeMond spinning bike with computerized odometer will be used.
  • Participants will be able to set their own tension on the bike.
  • Distance will be measured in yards rounded up the nearest yard.

Run Event

  • 15 minutes
  • Held at a Life Fitness treadmill
  • Four runners per heat
  • Distance will be rounded up to the nearest 10th of a mile

 


Scoring

  • Points will be awarded for each event. The scoring will be in descending order. For example: First place will receive one point. Eighth place will receive eight points.
  • Each event's order of finish will rank by the distance traveled in a pre-set time.
  • The scores from each competitor's events will be combined to give a total score.
  • The person with the lowest total score from each division will be the division champion.

Scoring Example:

Bob Smith has:

  1. The third furthest overall distance in the run= 3 points
  2. The fourteen furthest overall distance in bike= 14 points
  3. The fifth furthest overall distance in the swim=5 points

His total score is 22 points. His total score is then compare to others in his division to determine the winner of the division


Registration

First come - first serve registration for preferred heat time. If a heat is full, the participant must pick a different heat time.

How to register

  1. Select Registration
  2. Login with PIN (call 913-895-6390 for assistance)
  3. Select heat time. (If the heat does not show, it is full and another time must be selected.)
